No. The Sierra Colina EIS details the extensive investigation of potential cultural resources on Sierra Colina conducted by archaeologists since 2006, and in the past by prior archaeology experts. The Sierra Colina cultural resources field work since 2006 was done in consultation with the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, Pacific Legacy, and Analytical Environmental Services. A concurring letter from The Nevada State Historic Preservation Office states, “none of the resources identified in the parcel are significant per the TRPA Code of Ordinances.” Although deemed “not significant” per the TRPA Code of Ordinances, Sierra Colina respects the Washoe Tribe’s interest in two Washoe grinding stones located on the property and is continuing dialogue with the Washoe Tribe about protecting them. As currently designed, the Sierra Colina Village site plan protects both of these grinding stones.
